How do you find a doctor you are comfortable talking to and what questions should you ask them? How do you disclose your sexual orientation? Do you know what tests and screenings are important for gay and bisexual men? Learn the ins-and-outs of health care for gay and bisexual men with a great panel of experts! Refreshments provided.

About the Presenters:

David Bucher, MDDr. Bucher is a faculty member at the United Family Practice Residency Program in St. Paul. He holds an adjunct professor appointment in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and sees patients at the United Family Practice Health Center, where he teaches 2nd, 3rd and 4th year medical students on their Primary Care Clerkships as well as precepting the Family Medicine residents in their training program. In addition, he teaches in the Man-to-Man seminars, a direct community health outreach project through a collaboration between the Program in Human Sexuality and the HIPS (HIV/STI Intervention and Prevention) program at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.

Simon Rosser, PhD, MPH, LPB. R. Simon Rosser, Ph.D., M.P.H., L.P., is professor and director of the HIV/STI Intervention and Prevention Studies (HIPS) Program, in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Rosser possesses advanced degrees in psychology, epidemiology, and behavioral medicine, with postdoctoral training in clinical/research sexology. He is best known for his research in the areas of HIV prevention, male homosexuality, homophobia, sexual health, Internet sex, and structural level interventions. He is an award winning author of 5 books and numerous scientific articles, and currently he is principal investigator on three NIH-funded studies testing highly interactive Internet based interventions for Men who use the Internet to seek Sex with Men.

Hal Martin, MD, MPHDr. Hal Martin is an Infectious Disease specialist at Park Nicollet Clinic. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at the University of Washington, Seattle in Internal Medicine as well as a fellowship in Infectious Disease. As an HIV specialist, he cares for many gay men, but also works in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of STDs, sexual health, and the diagnosis and management of anal dysplasia and warts. He believes that it is critical that all people have a medical provider with whom they can be completely honest without fear of judgment or discrimination.

Bob Tracy, ModeratorBob Tracy is a public affairs consultant, working with nonprofit and government agencies on policy reforms in public health and criminal justice. A long-time advocate and service manager in the HIV field, he is currently co-chair of the Ryan White Program National Quality Center's Community Advisory Council.

William Burleson, HostBill is the Syphilis Elimination Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Health. He is currently working on a project to help decrease health disparities affecting gay and bisexual men through greater awareness of health issues, improved cultural competency, and decreased barriers for clinicians. |
